Keystone RV Company: 2023 Travel Trailers Recalled for Electric Stabilizer Jack Switch Short

Summary

Keystone RV Company is recalling approximately 536 of its 2023 Dutchmen Aspen Trail, Coleman, and Kodiak travel trailers. The electric stabilizer jack switches on these vehicles may not be properly waterproofed on the back side, which can lead to an electrical short circuit. This defect can cause the stabilizer jacks to unexpectedly extend while the trailer is in motion, and Keystone is offering free switch replacements at authorized dealerships to resolve the issue.

Risk

An electrical short can cause the stabilizer jacks to extend during transit. If the jacks extend while the vehicle is moving, it creates a significant risk of a crash or injury to the occupants and other road users.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle registration or VIN to confirm if your trailer is a 2023 Keystone Dutchmen Aspen Trail, Coleman, or Kodiak model.
  2. Contact Keystone RV Company customer service at 1-866-425-4369 to verify if your specific unit is included in recall 22-435.
  3. Schedule an appointment with an authorized Keystone dealer to have the electric stabilizer jack switch replaced free of charge.
  4. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
