Summary

Hyundai Motor America is recalling approximately 52,109 vehicles, including 2023-2024 Palisade and Tucson models, and 2023 Sonata, Elantra, and Kona vehicles. The electronic controller for the oil pump assembly may have damaged electrical components that can cause the pump to overheat. If the controller overheats, it creates a significant risk of a vehicle fire, even while the car is parked. To resolve this issue, Hyundai dealers will inspect and replace the electric oil pump controller at no cost to owners.

Risk

The damaged electrical components in the pump controller can overheat and lead to a fire. Because of this risk, owners are strongly advised to park their vehicles outdoors and away from buildings or other structures until the recall repair is completed.

What You Should Do

  1. Park this vehicle outdoors, away from structures — do NOT park in a garage due to fire risk until the recall repair is finished.
  2. Check if your vehicle is one of the following affected models: 2023-2024 Hyundai Palisade, 2023-2024 Hyundai Tucson, 2023 Hyundai Sonata, 2023 Hyundai Elantra, or 2023 Hyundai Kona.
  3. Contact an authorized Hyundai dealer to schedule an appointment for a free inspection and replacement of the electric oil pump controller.
  4. For additional questions, contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 and reference Hyundai's internal recall number 246.
  5. Contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information regarding recall 23V526.
