Summary

Approximately 131,500 Expert Gardener electric blower vacuums are being recalled because objects drawn into the unit while in vacuum mode can break through the plastic housing. This defect creates a risk of serious cuts to the user. These green and black units were sold exclusively at Walmart stores and online during 2012 for about $40. OWT Industries Inc. is providing a full refund for all affected units.

Risk

When using the vacuum function, objects pulled into the machine can shatter or pierce the plastic outer casing, potentially causing laceration injuries to the operator. One incident has been reported, though no injuries have occurred yet.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your unit to see if it is an Expert Gardener electric blower vacuum in green and black colors.
  2. Locate the identification label on the left side of the motor housing to check the model and serial numbers. The recall affects model 20254EG with serial numbers BMP3010001 through BMR3311972, and model 20254EGC with serial numbers EUP3120001 through EUP3630730.
  3. Verify if the text 'Expert Gardener' and 'BlowerVac 2 Speed Quiet 150 MPH Powerful 220 MPH' is printed on the green motor housing and the black blower tube.
  4. If your vacuum matches these numbers and descriptions, stop using it immediately.
