Summary

eheat is recalling approximately 35,000 Envi high-efficiency electric panel wall heaters because a manufacturing defect in the internal wiring can cause the units to overheat, smoke, or melt. The recall includes white and black heaters measuring about 19 by 22 inches, sold online and at specialty retailers between July 2015 and August 2016 for approximately $140 to $160. There have been roughly 300 reports of the heaters overheating, although no injuries have been reported to date. Consumers with affected units should contact eheat immediately to receive a free repair.

Risk

Improper wire crimping during manufacturing can cause the heater's internal components to overheat and melt. This creates a risk of smoke and fire, which poses a burn hazard to consumers.
