Summary

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems is recalling approximately 2,389 Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units (ECU) across 17 different part numbers. These control units may fail or process commands incorrectly due to electrical noise and low signals on the power line. This malfunction can cause critical safety systems—including anti-lock brakes (ABS), Electronic Stability Control, and collision mitigation—to stop working or have reduced effectiveness, which increases the risk of a crash. Bendix will provide free software reprogramming to correct the issue.

Risk

If the electronic control unit stops working correctly, a vehicle's primary safety features like emergency braking and stability control may fail without warning. This loss of driver assistance and safety systems significantly increases the likelihood of a collision. No incidents or injuries have been reported to date.
