Summary

Xos, Inc. is recalling approximately 275 vehicles, including 2021 RM01 and SA01 models as well as 2021-2022 SV05 models. The recall was initiated because the bolts connecting the electronic parking brake rotor to the driveshaft may have been improperly tightened during manufacturing. Owners of these vehicles should contact an authorized dealer to have the bolts and related hardware replaced free of charge.

Risk

If the bolts are loose, the driveshaft can separate from the vehicle. This causes an immediate loss of drive power, which significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking your model and year: 2021 RM01, 2021 SA01, or 2021-2022 SV05.
  2. Contact Xos customer service at 1-818-316-1890 to arrange for a free repair. Refer to Xos recall number REC 002-23 when calling.
  3. Bring your vehicle to an authorized dealer, where they will replace the driveshaft bolts and related hardware at no cost to you.
  4. For additional information or questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
