Summary

Navistar, Inc. is recalling 49 of its 2023 International MV trucks because the driveshaft tube seam weld may separate or tear. This defect can lead to the drive line separating from the vehicle, causing a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. Navistar will notify owners and dealers will replace the affected driveshafts with new ones at no cost to the owner.

Risk

A sudden loss of drive power can occur without warning if the driveshaft separates, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's registration or VIN to confirm if you own a 2023 International MV truck.
  2. If your vehicle is affected, contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 to discuss the recall (referencing recall number 23513) and schedule a free repair.
  3. Wait for an official owner notification letter, which Navistar expects to mail by July 3, 2023.
  4. Take your truck to an authorized dealer to have the driveshaft replaced free of charge.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
