Summary

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling approximately 18,196 GL1800 Goldwing motorcycles from the 2018-2021 model years. The primary drive gear bolt on the engine's crankshaft may break, causing the engine to stall unexpectedly. Dealers will replace the affected bolt with a new one at no cost to the owner.

Risk

A broken drive gear bolt can cause the engine to stall and simultaneously lock the rear wheel. This sudden loss of control and motive power significantly increases the risk of a crash or serious injury while riding.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's identification to see if it is a 2018-2021 Honda GL1800 Goldwing motorcycle.
  2. Contact an authorized Honda dealer to schedule a free repair. Dealers will replace the primary drive gear bolt, free of charge.
  3. If you have already received a notification letter (mailed December 30, 2024), follow the instructions provided to arrange your service appointment.
  4. For further information or to confirm your motorcycle is included, contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870 and reference recall number KQ9.
