Summary

Suzuki Motor USA, LLC is recalling 360 of its 2024 GSX-8R motorcycles because the drive chain may detach while riding. The drive chain can fail due to missing rivets, which leads to an immediate loss of power to the rear wheels. Suzuki dealers will inspect the chain and provide a free repair, including a replacement joint and new sprockets if necessary.

Risk

If the drive chain detaches, the motorcycle will lose all drive power to the rear wheels, which significantly increases the risk of a crash. This defect is caused by missing rivets that should secure the chain assembly.

What You Should Do

  1. Locate your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to check if your 2024 Suzuki GSX-8R is included in this recall.
  2. Contact an authorized Suzuki dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair of your motorcycle's drive chain.
  3. Ensure the dealer replaces the drive chain joint and, if needed, the sprockets at no cost to you.
  4. If you have questions, contact Suzuki customer service at (714) 572-1490 and reference recall number 3A02.
  5. For additional information, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
