General Motors, LLC: 2024 Chevrolet and GMC Vehicles Recalled for Fracturing Door Strikers

Summary

General Motors is recalling approximately 265 vehicles, including certain 2024 Chevrolet Blazer, Blazer EV, Equinox, and GMC Terrain models. The door strikers—the metal parts the door latches onto—may fracture and break, which could cause the vehicle doors to open unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion. To address this safety concern, dealers will replace all four door strikers and their attaching bolts at no cost to owners.

Risk

If a door striker fractures while the vehicle is being driven, the door can swing open unexpectedly. This poses a significant risk of occupants falling out of the vehicle or increasing the possibility of a crash or injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the NHTSA website or by contacting your local Chevrolet or GMC dealer. The recall includes certain 2024 Chevrolet Blazer, Blazer EV, Equinox, and GMC Terrain vehicles.
  2. If your vehicle is included in the recall, contact a Chevrolet or GMC dealer to schedule a free repair. Dealers will replace all four door strikers and the attaching bolts.
  3. For further assistance or to ask questions about the repair process, contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, referencing GM recall number N232429911.
  4. If you have additional concerns, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
