Summary

Dollar General is recalling about 27,000 orange remote-controlled toy excavators and shovel loaders. The toy's remote control can short circuit and overheat, which creates a risk of fire or burns to children. There have been five reports of the remote controls overheating, though no injuries have been reported. These toys were sold exclusively at Dollar General stores and online from July 2015 through December 2015 for approximately $10.

Risk

A short circuit in the handheld remote control can cause the device to overheat rapidly, posing fire and burn hazards to anyone holding or near the controller. Five incidents of overheating have already been reported.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the toy excavator or shovel loader and take it away from children.
  2. Check the back of the battery compartment on the toy for tracking code 90RWE15 to confirm it is part of this recall.
  3. Identify the excavator by looking for stickers on the side that say 'Power', 'Shovel Loader', or 'Super Power' and verify the UPC 00430000549030 on the bottom of the packaging.
  4. Identify the shovel loader by looking for stickers on the side that say '6000Kg Peakload', 'FL-330 Deluxe Crane', or 'Crane Super Truck' and verify the UPC 00400001622537 on the bottom of the packaging.
  5. Return the recalled toy to any Dollar General store for a full refund.
  6. Contact Dollar General at 800-678-9258 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or email custsv@dollargeneral.com for more information.
