Summary

Ideations is recalling about 2,500 DiveAlert and DiveAlert PLUS scuba signaling devices because they can malfunction and restrict a diver's air flow. This recall includes models DA2, DP2, and DV2 sold nationwide between July 2009 and May 2013 for about $70 to $90. No injuries have been reported, but consumers should immediately stop using these devices and contact the manufacturer for a free repair that replaces the defective female coupling.

Risk

The signaling device can malfunction during use and physically restrict the flow of air to the diver. This creates a serious drowning hazard by limiting the diver's ability to breathe from their primary air source.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you have a recalled DiveAlert (black with orange button), DiveAlert PLUS (black with gray knob and red button), or DV2 (black and red) signaling device.
  2. Check the chrome-plated brass coupling collar that attaches the device to the buoyancy compensator (BCD). Only signaling devices that have NO stamped writing on the coupling's collar are included in this recall.
  3. Confirm if your device is used with Aqualung AirSource, Oceanic Air XS, Aeris Air Link, or Mares Air Control regulator/inflators.
  4. Immediately stop using the recalled signaling devices and remove them from your diving equipment.
  5. Return the device to an authorized DiveAlert dealer or directly to Ideations DiveAlert for a free repair of the female coupling.
  6. Contact DiveAlert at 800-275-4332 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, email info@divealert.com, or visit www.divealert.com for more information.
  7. Call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 for additional safety questions.

Your Remedy Options
