Summary

Design Ideas and Neatlife are recalling approximately 26,900 miniature refrigerator and office magnets sold in the shapes of rubber ducks, blowfish, and paint splats. These magnets were sold in sets of four or six for about $10 at various retailers including Nordstrom's Rack, CB2, and novelty stores nationwide. The recall was issued because the small magnets can detach from the plastic shapes, posing a severe hazard if swallowed. Consumers should immediately stop using these magnets and contact Design Ideas for a full refund.

Risk

If the small magnets detach and are swallowed, they can attract each other through intestinal walls. This can cause the intestines to twist or clamp together, leading to internal holes (perforations), blockages, blood poisoning (sepsis), and even death.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your home and office for brightly colored miniature magnets in the shapes of yellow rubber ducks, various colored blowfish, or paint splats.
  2. Identify the affected products by looking for the Design Ideas logo or checking the bottom of the packaging for model numbers 3205121 (duck), 993205114 (duck), 3205122 (blowfish), or 3205078 (splat).
  3. Verify the UPC code 095787111650 if you have the blowfish magnet packaging.
  4. Immediately stop using the recalled magnets and place them in a secure location out of the reach of children.
  5. Contact Design Ideas at 800-426-6394 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit www.designideas.net and click on 'Safety Notices and Patents' to receive instructions for a refund.
