Summary

PACCAR Incorporated is recalling approximately 254 trucks including 2021-2024 Kenworth T280 and T380, 2020-2024 Peterbilt 548 and 536, 2024 Peterbilt 537, and 2020-2024 Kenworth T480 models. The timing of the trailer brake release on these vehicles may be delayed, which means they do not comply with federal safety standards for air brake systems. To fix this issue, dealers will replace the fittings and hoses in the affected valves at no cost to the owner.

Risk

A delay in the trailer brake release can cause the trailer to become unstable during operation. This instability significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is one of the following affected models: 2021-2024 Kenworth T280 or T380; 2020-2024 Kenworth T480; 2020-2024 Peterbilt 548 or 536; or 2024 Peterbilt 537.
  2. Contact an authorized Kenworth or Peterbilt dealer to schedule a free repair to replace the fittings and hoses in the affected brake valves.
  3. If you own a Kenworth vehicle, you may contact Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5888 and reference recall number 23KWJ.
  4. If you own a Peterbilt vehicle, you may contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220 and reference recall number 23PBJ.
