Summary

Nova Bus (US) Inc. is recalling 758 buses, specifically the 2023 LFS Artic and 2022-2024 LFS models, due to a defective coolant sensor. This sensor can send a false signal that causes the engine to shut down without warning while the vehicle is in operation. Nova Bus will inspect and replace the faulty sensors free of charge.

Risk

An unexpected engine shutdown while driving can cause the bus to lose power, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. Furthermore, the process of transferring passengers from a disabled bus on a roadway creates additional risks of injury to passengers and other motorists.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking the model and year: 2023 LFS Artic or 2022-2024 LFS buses.
  2. Contact Nova Bus customer service at 1-800-350-6682 to schedule a free inspection and coolant sensor replacement; refer to recall number CR5668.
  3. If you are a bus operator or owner, coordinate the inspection immediately to prevent unexpected vehicle stalls during service.
  4. Contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
