Summary

Volkswagen is recalling approximately 76,515 vehicles including certain 2021-2023 Audi Q5 and Q5 Sportback models, and 2022-2023 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport models. The engine connecting rod bearings in these vehicles may become damaged, which can lead to complete engine failure. If the engine fails, it can cause the vehicle to stall while driving or result in an oil leak. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the affected engine for free.

Risk

A damaged engine can fail and cause the vehicle to stall suddenly while in motion, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. Furthermore, if the engine failure causes oil to leak onto hot engine components, it creates a serious risk of a fire.
