Summary

Halcore Group, Inc. is recalling 34 Horton emergency vehicles because a steel brake line can be damaged when the rear suspension is lowered. This recall affects 2023-2024 models built on Ford F450, F550, and F600 chassis. If the brake line is damaged, it can leak fluid and lead to a total loss of braking power. Dealers will replace and secure the brake line for free to resolve this safety issue.

Risk

The left rear steel brake line can strike the strut mount during suspension movement, eventually wearing through or puncturing the line. This leads to a loss of brake fluid, which can cause the brakes to fail unexpectedly, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is a 2023-2024 Horton emergency vehicle built on a Ford F450, F550, or F600 chassis.
  2. Contact Halcore Group, Inc. customer service at 1-800-447-0343 to confirm your vehicle is included in this recall and to schedule a free repair.
  3. Bring your vehicle to an authorized dealer, who will replace and properly secure the brake line at no cost to you.
  4. For additional information, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
