Summary

Blue Bird Body Company is recalling 66 of its 2013-2021 Vision school buses that are equipped with Ford 6.8L LPG (Liquid Propane Gas) engines. The LPG supply line in these buses can be damaged if it comes into contact with the right-hand parking brake cable, which may lead to a fuel leak. Blue Bird notified owners by mail in November 2022, and authorized dealers will inspect and repair the fuel lines and the parking brake cable at no cost to owners.

Risk

The damaged fuel line can leak propane; if this fuel leak occurs near an ignition source, it significantly increases the risk of a vehicle fire.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking if it is a 2013-2021 Blue Bird Vision school bus equipped with a Ford 6.8L LPG engine.
  2. Contact Blue Bird's customer service department at 1-478-822-2242 to confirm your bus is part of recall R22CA-SB and to schedule a free inspection and repair.
  3. Bring the vehicle to an authorized Blue Bird dealer where technicians will inspect and repair the fuel lines and the parking brake cable free of charge.
  4. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
