Summary

Daimler Vans USA is recalling approximately 52,356 Mercedes-Benz Metris right-hand-drive vehicles from the 2020 and 2022-2023 model years. Water can accumulate on the vehicle's airbag control unit, which may prevent the airbags from deploying correctly during a collision. Dealers will install a protective cover on the control unit to prevent water intrusion at no cost to owners.

Risk

If water reaches the airbag control unit, it can cause the system to malfunction or fail entirely. In the event of a crash, airbags that do not deploy as intended significantly increase the risk of serious injury or death to the driver and passengers.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to see if it is included in this recall. VINs will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning February 13, 2026.
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz or Daimler Vans dealer to schedule a free appointment to have a protective cover installed on your airbag control unit.
  3. If you have additional questions, contact Daimler Vans USA (DVUSA) customer service at 1-877-762-8267 and reference recall number VS2KORSRS.
  4. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information regarding this safety recall.
