Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is recalling approximately 3,285 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses from the 2024 through 2027 model years. The software in these buses can malfunction if the door switch is accidentally bumped, which causes the stop sign arm and the amber and red warning lights to turn off. DTNA is currently developing a remedy to fix this software issue and expects to notify owners by mail in June 2026.
If the warning lights and stop sign arm fail to activate, other drivers will not be alerted that the school bus is slowing down or stopping to pick up or drop off children, significantly increasing the risk of a crash or pedestrian injury.
The remedy is currently under development.
Recall affects vehicles manufactured for model years 2024 through 2027.
