Summary

Ferrara Fire Apparatus is recalling three 2022 Ultra and Inferno fire trucks equipped with a Warn Winch and a wireless handheld remote. Water can enter the handheld remote control and cause the circuit board to corrode, which may trigger the winch to operate unexpectedly. While all affected vehicles were reportedly repaired by June 25, 2023, owners should verify their equipment has been inspected.

Risk

If the winch operates unintentionally due to circuit board corrosion, it poses a significant risk of injury to operators or bystanders who may be caught in or struck by the moving winch cable.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your fire truck is a 2022 Ferrara Ultra or Inferno model equipped with a Warn Winch and a wireless handheld remote.
  2. Inspect the handheld remote for any signs of water intrusion or corrosion on the internal circuit board.
  3. Follow instructions provided by Ferrara Fire and Warn Industries to disable the wireless function by removing the battery pack from the remote.
  4. If you find corrosion or water intrusion when removing the battery pack, stop using the remote immediately.
  5. Contact Warn Industries customer service for a replacement remote free of charge if damage is found.
