Summary

Four Degree Trailer Company is recalling 65 of its 2019-2022 Lo-LAL and IPT-EOT trailers equipped with a Warn Winch and a wireless handheld remote. Water can leak into the remote control and corrode the circuit board, which may cause the winch to start operating on its own without user input. Owners are being instructed to inspect their remotes and remove the battery pack to disable the wireless function until a water-resistant replacement remote is available.

Risk

If the winch operates unexpectedly due to circuit board corrosion, it can move heavy loads or tension cables without warning, significantly increasing the risk of serious injury to the operator or bystanders.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your trailer to see if it is a 2019-2022 Lo-LAL or IPT-EOT model equipped with a Warn Winch and a wireless handheld remote.
  2. Immediately inspect the handheld remote control for signs of water intrusion or corrosion by removing the battery pack.
  3. Disable the wireless function by leaving the battery pack out of the remote control.
  4. If you find water or corrosion inside the remote when removing the battery, stop using the remote immediately and contact WARN customer service for a free replacement.
  5. Contact Four Degree Trailer Company customer service at 1-309-853-3387 to discuss the inspection process and how to obtain a new water-resistant remote once they become available.
  6. For additional questions, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
