Blue Bird Body Company: 2018-2023 Vision Transit Buses Recalled for Corroded Fuel Lines

Summary

Blue Bird Body Company is recalling 49 Vision transit buses from model years 2018 through 2023. These vehicles are equipped with specific fuel return lines that may have a defective zinc-plating. When road debris hits the fuel line, the plating can break away, causing different metals to contact each other and corrode, which can lead to fuel leaks and potentially a vehicle fire. The affected buses were sold or registered in 22 states and Washington D.C. Dealers will replace the fuel return lines with new parts at no cost to owners.

Risk

A corroded fuel line can leak fuel in the presence of an ignition source, which significantly increases the risk of a fire. There is a specific concern for vehicles in states where road debris and corrosive conditions are common.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is a 2018-2023 Blue Bird Vision transit bus equipped with a Roush fuel return line from a GEN 4 or GEN 5 LPG Conversion System.
