Summary

Lucid USA, Inc. is recalling 7,506 of its 2022-2024 Air vehicles because the high voltage coolant heater may fail. This defect prevents the windshield from defrosting properly, which can significantly reduce the driver's visibility while operating the vehicle. Lucid has released an over-the-air software update to identify these failures and will replace any heaters that are found to be faulty at no cost to the owner.

Risk

If the coolant heater fails to defrost the windshield, the driver's view of the road will be obstructed, which increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your VIN on the NHTSA website or contacting Lucid customer service at 1-888-995-8243 and referencing recall number SR-24-04-0.
  2. Check your vehicle's infotainment system for an available over-the-air (OTA) software update designed to identify coolant heater failures and provide driver warnings.
  3. If the software update identifies a heater failure or if you are experiencing defrosting issues, contact a Lucid service center to schedule a free replacement of the high voltage coolant heater.
  4. For further information or assistance regarding this recall expansion (originally Recall 24V-011), you may call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
