Summary

Webasto Thermo & Comfort NA has recalled approximately 2,710 High Voltage (HV) Coolant Heaters (models HVH50, HVH70, and HVH100) because they may fail to defrost the vehicle's windshield. This equipment was supplied to vehicle manufacturers including Jaguar Land Rover and Lucid USA for use in their electric or hybrid vehicles. If the heater fails, the driver may be unable to clear the windshield of ice or fog, significantly reducing visibility.

Risk

A coolant heater that fails to defrost the windshield can obscure the driver's view while driving in cold or humid conditions, which increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is equipped with a Webasto HV Coolant Heater by checking for part numbers HVH100, HVH70, or HVH50.
  2. Check if your vehicle is part of a related recall from Jaguar Land Rover North America (recall number 23V-518) or Lucid USA (recall numbers 24V-011 and 24V-495).
  3. Contact your specific vehicle manufacturer's customer service department to determine if your vehicle requires a repair or part replacement.
  4. For further assistance, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
