Summary

Boreas Campers is recalling 100 of its 2021-2022 XT travel trailers because the built-in cooktops may leak gas. These trailers are equipped with SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktops (part numbers 3031AST and 3032AST) where internal aluminum burner tubes can fracture. Dealers will replace the entire cooktop assembly free of charge to resolve the safety issue.

Risk

The internal tubes connecting to the gas valves can break, allowing gas to escape into the camper. If this leaking gas encounters an ignition source, it can cause a fire or explosion.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your trailer is affected by checking the model year (2021-2022) and confirming it is a Boreas XT travel trailer.
  2. Check the cooktop in your unit to see if it is an SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in model with part number 3031AST or 3032AST.
  3. Contact Boreas Campers customer service at 1-720-515-3641 to schedule a free replacement of the cooktop at a dealership.
  4. Call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
