Off Grid Trailers: Pando, Expedition, and Switchback Travel Trailers Recalled for Gas Leak

Summary

Off Grid Trailers is recalling approximately 150 units of its 2020-2022 Pando, 2020-2023 Expedition, and Switchback travel trailers because they are equipped with SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktops that may leak gas. The internal aluminum burner tubes that connect to the gas valves can fracture, allowing gas to escape. Dealers will inspect the burner tubes and either repair the unit or replace the cooktop entirely, free of charge.

Risk

A fracture in the gas burner tubes can cause a gas leak, which increases the risk of a fire if an ignition source is present.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your travel trailer is one of the affected models: a 2020-2022 Pando, a 2020-2023 Expedition, or a Switchback trailer equipped with an SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktop.
  2. If you own an affected trailer, contact Off Grid Trailers customer service at 1-780-616-2830 to schedule a free inspection of your cooktop's burner tubes.
  3. Owners of previously sold units will receive a free repair or a full replacement of the cooktop as necessary, while unsold vehicles will have a regulator support bracket installed by dealers.
  4. For more information or if you have additional questions, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
