Summary

Jayco, Inc. is recalling approximately 2,748 of its 2021-2022 Jay Feather, Jay Flight, and Jay Flight SLX travel trailers because of a defect where the cooktop flame can invert. This occurs when the stove and the furnace are operated at the same time, potentially drawing the flame in an unsafe direction. Dealers will install sealant and plywood panels to properly seal the area to prevent this occurrence at no cost to owners.

Risk

An inverted cooktop flame can cause the fire to pull away from the burner area and toward combustible materials or internal components, significantly increasing the risk of a fire or personal injury while cooking.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your travel trailer is affected by checking your registration for the following models: 2021-2022 Jayco Jay Feather, Jayco Jay Flight, or Jayco Jay Flight SLX.
  2. Locate your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267 to confirm if your specific unit is included in recall number 9901582.
  3. If your vehicle is affected, schedule an appointment with an authorized Jayco dealer for a free repair, which includes the installation of sealant and plywood panels to seal the cooktop area.
  4. Avoid using the cooktop and the furnace simultaneously until the safety repair has been completed by a professional.
  5. For additional information or to report safety concerns, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
