Summary

ZF North America is recalling 275 track control arms sold under the Lemförder and TRW brands. The inner sleeve of the bushing in these parts may be too short, which can cause the control arm to be compressed too tightly and crack the vehicle's subframe during installation. ZF will work with dealers and distributors to provide a free inspection and replace the bushing, subframe, or track control arm as needed.

Risk

A cracked subframe can lead to damage of the front axle carrier, resulting in a loss of vehicle handling and steering control. This failure significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. The recalled products are Lemförder track control arms with part number 38526 01 and TRW track control arms with part number JTC 1619.
  2. Contact your authorized dealer or distributor to arrange for a free inspection of the track control arm and subframe.
  3. If the inspection reveals damage or the presence of the defective bushing, the dealer will replace the bushing, subframe, or the track control arm at no charge to you.
  4. Owners with questions may contact ZF North America customer service at 1-734-416-6200.
  5. Call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for additional information.
