Summary

Continuum has recalled approximately 56,000 Lenox-branded 2.5 Quart Whistling Stainless Steel Tea Kettles because they can expel hot water through the top during use. There have been 14 reports of this occurring, including four reports of burn injuries, some of which were severe. These kettles were sold in various colors at major retailers nationwide between September 2013 and November 2017. Consumers should stop using the kettles immediately and contact Continuum for a refund.

Risk

The kettles can suddenly eject boiling water through the top lid or spout while in use, which can cause severe burns to the user or anyone nearby. Four individuals have already reported suffering burn injuries from this defect.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your kettle to see if it is a Lenox-branded 2.5 Quart Whistling Stainless Steel model with a three-layered bottom. The name 'Lenox' is printed on the sides and the bottom of the kettle.
  2. Identify the base: Affected kettles have a flat stainless steel bottom measuring about 7 inches across with a bent edge that extends about 1 inch beyond the flat portion.
  3. Stop using the recalled tea kettle immediately to avoid the risk of severe burns.
  4. Contact Continuum at 800-669-6385 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or online at www.gocontinuum.com to request a refund. You will receive a full refund if you have proof of purchase; otherwise, you will receive $29.99.
