Summary

Trans-Air Manufacturing Corp. is recalling approximately 36 Dual Compressor Mounts (part numbers 4013775-01 and 4013775-02) installed on certain Starcraft Ford F650 buses. The compressor mounts can come into contact with the vehicle's optional stabilizer or sway bar, potentially causing the mount to fail. A failed mount can lead to a sudden loss of vehicle power or a loss of steering control. To fix this issue, dealers will install newly designed mounts at no cost to the owner.

Risk

If the compressor mount breaks due to contact with the sway bar, the vehicle may experience a sudden loss of engine power or steering control, which significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle records to determine if your Starcraft Ford F650 bus is equipped with Trans-Air Dual Compressor Mounts, specifically part numbers 4013775-01 or 4013775-02.
  2. Identify if your bus was manufactured with an optional stabilizer or sway bar, as this component is what causes the interference with the compressor mount.
  3. If your vehicle is affected, contact Trans-Air customer service at 1-800-673-2446 to coordinate a free repair.
  4. Arrange for an authorized dealer to install the new replacement mounts free of charge.
  5. For additional questions or to check your VIN, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
