Summary

Altec Industries is recalling 59 of its 2020-2023 D4000B, D2000B, and AC18 trucks because the collision mitigation system software may be incorrectly calibrated. This defect can prevent the active braking system from turning on when needed to avoid a crash. Owners of these vehicles will be provided with a free software update and a subsequent road-test to ensure the system is functioning correctly.

Risk

If the active braking system fails to activate during a potential collision, the vehicle will not automatically slow down or stop, significantly increasing the risk of a crash and serious injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's model and production year to see if you own an Altec D4000B, D2000B, or AC18 truck manufactured between 2020 and 2023.
  2. Verify if your vehicle is included in this recall by contacting Altec customer service at 1-877-468-5832 and referencing recall number CSN 3085.
  3. Contact your respective Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) service center to schedule an appointment for a free software update and required road-test.
  4. For further information or questions, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
