Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 305,282 vehicles, specifically 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L models. The rear coil springs may have been incorrectly installed, which can cause them to detach from the vehicle while you are driving. Dealers will inspect the rear coil spring assemblies and perform any necessary repairs free of charge. This recall replaces a previous NHTSA recall (23V413) with a new remedy (under recall 26V051), and all previously affected vehicles must have this new repair performed.

Risk

If the rear coil springs detach while the vehicle is in motion, it can lead to a sudden loss of stability or contact with other vehicles, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if you own a 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee or a 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L.
  2. Contact a local authorized Jeep or FCA US, LLC dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair of your rear coil spring assemblies.
  3. Be aware that this recall replaces an older recall (64A / 23V413); even if your vehicle was previously inspected, you must have the new remedy performed under the updated recall notice 26V051.
  4. If you have further questions, contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and mention recall number 64A.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
