Summary

Dorel Juvenile Group is recalling approximately 59,457 infant car seats and bases from brands including Safety 1st and Maxi-Cosi. The recall includes specific models of the Safety 1st onBoard 35 Secure Tech, Maxi-Cosi Coral XP, Mico XP Max, Mico XP, and Mico Luxe+ seats. The lower seat anchors used to secure the child seat base can fail, which may allow the car seat to detach from the vehicle during use. Dorel is providing all affected owners with a replacement car seat base free of charge.

Risk

If the lower anchors fail, the child seat can detach from the vehicle's seat. A detached seat will not properly restrain the infant during a crash, significantly increasing the risk of serious injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your child car seat or base to see if it is one of the affected models: Safety 1st onBoard 35 Secure Tech, Safety 1st Secure Tech Infant Base, Maxi-Cosi Coral XP, Maxi-Cosi Mico XP Max, Maxi-Cosi Mico XP, Maxi-Cosi Mico Luxe+, or Maxi-Cosi Infant Base.
  2. Until you receive a replacement base, you must only secure your child seat using the vehicle’s seat belt restraint system instead of the lower LATCH anchors.
  3. Contact Dorel Juvenile Group customer service at 1-877-657-9546 or email RetractableLatchRecall@djgusa.com to confirm your model and arrange for a free replacement base.
  4. For additional information, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
