Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 9,847 of its 2023-2024 Bronco 4-door vehicles because the left-side rear door child safety lock may not work correctly. Even when the lock is set to the "ON" position, the door can still be opened from the inside. Dealers will inspect the child safety locks and replace the rear door latch assembly if necessary at no cost to owners.

Risk

A malfunctioning child safety lock allows a child or passenger to unexpectedly open the rear door while the vehicle is in motion or parked, significantly increasing the risk of falling out of the vehicle or being struck by passing traffic.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is a 2023-2024 Ford Bronco 4-door model.
  2. Verify your vehicle's recall status by entering your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at www.nhtsa.gov/recalls or by contacting a Ford dealer.
  3. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 24S15 to schedule a free inspection and repair of the rear door latch.
  4. Until the vehicle is repaired, do not rely on the left-side rear child safety lock; ensure children are seated in the right-side rear seat or are properly supervised.
  5. For additional questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
