Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 3 model year 2022 EQS580 vehicles because the multi-purpose camera and rearview mirror may not be properly attached to the windshield. This defect can cause the camera and mirror to fall off while driving, which may prevent the front passenger airbag from deploying correctly and disable various driver assistance systems. Dealers will replace the windshield and reinstall the camera and mirror hardware at no cost to the owner.

Risk

If the camera and mirror detach, the front passenger airbag may not deploy as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, critical safety features like automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control may fail, significantly increasing the risk of a collision.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's identification to see if it is one of the 3 affected 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS580 vehicles.
  2. Contact a Mercedes-Benz dealership to schedule a free repair. The dealer will replace the windshield and reinstall the multi-purpose camera and rearview mirror as necessary.
  3. If you have questions, contact Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference recall number 2023030002.
