PACCAR Incorporated: Kenworth and Peterbilt Trucks Recalled for Detaching Cab Mirrors

Summary

PACCAR Incorporated is recalling approximately 10,611 trucks because the mirror glass on the cab mirror assembly can detach and fall off. The recall includes 2022-2024 models of the Peterbilt 535, 536, 537, and 548, as well as Kenworth T180, T280, T380, and T480. This issue is caused by a lock ring that may not be fully seated during manufacturing, which fails to secure the mirror glass. Dealers will inspect and repair the mirror assembly free of charge to prevent the glass from detaching.

Risk

If the mirror glass detaches while driving, it significantly reduces the driver's visibility of surrounding traffic and obstacles. This loss of visibility increases the likelihood of a crash or collision.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your truck is a 2022-2024 Peterbilt (models 535, 536, 537, 548) or Kenworth (models T180, T280, T380, T480).
  2. If you own a Kenworth truck, contact Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5888 regarding recall number 24KWA.
  3. If you own a Peterbilt truck, contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220 regarding recall number 24PBA.
  4. Schedule a free appointment with an authorized dealer to have the mirror glass lock ring inspected and repaired as necessary.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
