Summary

BrushX has recalled approximately 100,000 BrushX Styler, Dryer & Volumizer (BrushX One) and BrushX Gen.2 hot air brushes sold online at mybrushx.com between April 2020 and August 2021. The brushes, available in black and black/pink, lack a required immersion protection device designed to prevent electrical discharge if the unit enters water. Consumers should immediately stop using these brushes and contact the company for a free upgraded replacement.

Risk

The hot air brushes do not have an immersion protection device, posing an electrocution or shock hazard to the user if the product falls into water while plugged in. While no injuries have been reported, the lack of this safety feature creates a high risk of fatal electrical shock in bathroom environments.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled BrushX Styler, Dryer & Volumizer (BrushX One) and BrushX Gen.2 hot air brushes.
  2. Identify your product by checking the rear of the brush for a 'not waterproof' symbol (a circle with a line through a hand washing under a faucet) located to the left of the CE mark.
  3. Destroy the product by first unplugging the unit and then cutting the power cord.
  4. Email a photo of the destroyed product (with the cord cut) to BrushX at replacement@mybrushx.com to receive a free, upgraded replacement product.
  5. Contact BrushX toll-free at 855-216-3565 any time to leave a voice mail for a return call, or visit www.mybrushx.com and click on 'IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION' for more details.
  6. For further questions regarding this recall, contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
