Summary

BRP is recalling about 240 model year 2015 and 2016 Youth Model Can-Am DS 90 and DS 90X all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The fuel filter on these vehicles can break and leak, posing a fire hazard. While eight reports of fuel filter failure have been received from dealerships, no injuries have been reported. These 90cc engine vehicles were sold in black and yellow at Can-Am dealers nationwide between May and September 2015. BRP is offering a free repair for all affected units.

Risk

The fuel filter is prone to breaking, which can cause gasoline to leak onto the vehicle. This creates a significant risk of fire while the vehicle is in operation or being stored.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled 2015 and 2016 Can-Am DS 90 and DS 90X youth ATVs.
  2. Verify your vehicle is affected by checking the fairing and seat; recalled models have 'Can-Am DS' and the engine size '90' painted in white on the sides of the fairing, and 'Can-Am' in white on both sides of the seat.
  3. Contact an authorized BRP dealer to schedule a free repair of the fuel filter.
  4. You can contact BRP toll-free at 888-272-9222 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit www.can-am.brp.com and click on 'Off Road,' then 'Owners,' and then 'Safety Recalls' for more information.
