Summary

BRP is recalling approximately 10,000 model year 2017 Ski-Doo MXZ, Summit, and Renegade snowmobiles equipped with 850 E-TEC engines. The vehicle's fuel delivery system can leak fuel, which creates a significant risk of fire. There have been 13 reports of fuel leaks and two reports of fire, though no injuries have been reported. These snowmobiles were sold in various colors at Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from June 2016 through April 2019.

Risk

The fuel delivery system in these snowmobiles can develop leaks, allowing fuel to escape and come into contact with hot engine components or ignition sources. This poses a direct fire hazard to the rider and others nearby, as evidenced by two reported fires.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles and identify if yours is affected by checking the model name (MXZ, Summit, or Renegade) printed on the side panels.
  2. Locate the 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the decal on the right-hand side of the tunnel to confirm it is a 2017 model with an 850 E-TEC engine.
  3. Contact a BRP Ski-Doo dealer to schedule a free repair of the fuel delivery system.
  4. You can contact BRP toll-free at 888-272-9222 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Monday through Sunday, or visit www.ski-doo.com and click on 'Community' and then 'Safety' for more information.
