Summary

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is recalling approximately 10,200 of its 2013 Ski-Doo snowmobiles because a fuel pump fitting can break and leak gasoline. The company has received three reports of fires caused by this defect. These vehicles were sold at Ski-Doo dealers nationwide between March 2012 and January 2013 for between $8,000 and $12,000. Owners should immediately stop using these snowmobiles and contact a dealer for a free repair.

Risk

A fuel pump inlet fitting can hit the oil tank and break, causing fuel to leak onto the engine and posing a serious fire hazard. Three fires have already been reported due to this issue.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles until they have been repaired.
  2. Check the side panel of your vehicle to see if the model name matches one of the affected 2013 models, including Freeride, Grand Touring, GSX, MX Z, Renegade, Skandic Tundra, or Summit.
  3. Contact an authorized BRP Ski-Doo dealer to schedule a free repair of the fuel pump inlet fitting.
  4. You can contact BRP toll-free at (888) 638-5397 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or visit www.ski-doo.com and click on 'recall information' for more details.
