Summary

BRP is recalling about 1,300 model year 2022 Can-Am Outlander 450, 450 Max, 570, and 570 Max all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The vehicle's speedometer can display only half of the true speed, which can cause the rider to lose control and crash. BRP has received two reports of the speedometer failing to display the correct speed, though no injuries have been reported. These vehicles were sold in various colors at Can-Am dealers nationwide between July 2021 and November 2021 for between $6,700 and $7,700.

Risk

The speedometer inaccuracy can lead a rider to believe they are traveling significantly slower than they actually are. This discrepancy can result in a loss of vehicle control, posing a serious crash hazard. Two incidents of incorrect speed display have been reported to date.
