Summary

BRP has expanded its recall to include approximately 14,600 Ski-Doo snowmobiles from model years 2017 and 2018 equipped with 850 E-TEC engines. The fuel delivery system on these vehicles can leak, creating a serious fire hazard. There have been 15 reports of fuel leaks and two reports of fires, though no injuries have been reported. These vehicles were sold at Ski-Doo dealers nationwide between June 2016 and July 2019.

Risk

The fuel delivery system can develop leaks while the vehicle is in operation or parked. This leaking fuel can ignite if it comes into contact with a hot engine component or an ignition source, posing a risk of fire and serious injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify your snowmobile by checking the side panels for the 'Ski-Doo' brand and model names: MXZ (TNT, X, Blizzard, XRS), Renegade (Adrenaline, X, BC, BCX, XRS), or Summit (SP, X).
  2. Locate the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the decal on the right-hand side of the tunnel to confirm if your specific unit is affected.
  3. Immediately stop using the recalled snowmobile to prevent the risk of a fuel leak or fire.
  4. Contact an authorized BRP Ski-Doo dealer to schedule a free repair of the fuel delivery system.
  5. Contact BRP toll-free at 888-272-9222 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET daily, or visit https://www.ski-doo.com and click on 'Community' then 'Safety' for more information.
  6. Call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 for any additional questions regarding this safety recall.
