Summary

Brooks Furniture is recalling about 350 glider rockers because the spindles in the glider base can loosen or separate during use. This recall affects two styles: the 1529P model with a maple frame and blue fabric, and the 1529V-LM model with a maple frame, beige vinyl, and a locking mechanism. The units were sold exclusively by Kaplan Early Learning between October 2011 and December 2012. Consumers should stop using these rockers immediately and contact Brooks Furniture for a free replacement base.

Risk

The spindles in the chair's base can detach while a person is rocking, which can cause the chair to collapse and result in the user falling. There have been 29 reports of spindles separating or loosening, though no injuries have been reported yet.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the underside of your glider rocker's seat for the style number (1529P or 1529V-LM) and a manufacture date between 1/1/2011 and 12/31/2012.
  2. Verify the brand by checking the seat cushion label, which should have 'Brooks Furniture' printed on it.
  3. Immediately stop using any affected glider rocker to prevent the risk of falling.
  4. Contact Brooks Furniture at (800) 427-6657 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET Monday through Thursday, or 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET on Friday, to receive a free replacement base.
  5. You can also visit www.brooksfurnitureonline.com and click on 'Recall' for more information on receiving your replacement part.
