Summary

Britax has recalled about 200 modified thru-bolt axles (model S11393700) provided for use with BOB Jogging Strollers manufactured between January 2009 and September 2015. These replacement axles were distributed free of charge through the BOB Information Campaign between January and April 2019. The front wheel axle can fracture during use, causing the wheel to detach and posing a serious fall risk. Britax has received eight reports of the axles fracturing, though no injuries have been reported, and is providing free replacements to all affected owners.

Risk

The front wheel axle can break or fracture while the stroller is in motion, which can cause the front wheel to fall off suddenly. This can cause the stroller to tip over, leading to serious fall and impact injuries for children in the stroller and the person pushing it.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your stroller's axle to see if it is the modified thru-bolt model S11393700 provided through the BOB Information Campaign.
  2. Immediately stop using the stroller if the modified thru-bolt axle is installed on the front wheel.
  3. Contact Britax toll-free at 888-427-4829 from 9 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. ET Monday through Thursday, or 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. ET on Friday, or email US-customerservice@britax.com to receive a free replacement thru-bolt axle.
  4. If you were already contacted by Britax regarding your participation in the BOB Information Campaign, you will automatically receive a replacement thru-bolt in the mail.
  5. Call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 if you have additional questions regarding this recall.
