Summary

Approximately 201,000 Briggs & Stratton and Craftsman 3000 PSI pressure washer surface cleaners are being recalled because the internal spray bar can break and detach during use. There have been five reports of this occurring, including one instance where the detached bar struck a consumer and caused a deep cut on their knee that required stitches. These black, red, or gray cleaners were sold nationwide at Lowe’s and other home improvement stores between March 2010 and February 2018. Briggs & Stratton is providing free replacement surface cleaners to affected owners.

Risk

The internal spray bar can break away from the central hub while under high pressure, causing metal pieces to be ejected from the housing and strike the operator or bystanders. This can result in severe lacerations or other impact injuries.

What You Should Do

  2. Check the top of your product's housing to see if '3000 PSI' is molded into the plastic.
  3. Identify the brand name (Briggs & Stratton or Craftsman) printed on the top label of the unit to confirm it is an affected model.
  4. Contact Briggs & Stratton at 877-370-7505 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday for instructions on how to register online for a free replacement.
