Summary

Briggs & Stratton is recalling about 1,160 Snapper Rear Engine Riding Mowers with 33-inch decks. A faulty blade engagement lever can allow the mower blades to continue spinning even after the operator releases the foot pedal meant to stop them. These red and black mowers were sold at authorized Snapper dealers nationwide between March 2019 and May 2019 for approximately $2,650. Consumers should immediately stop using these mowers and contact the company for a free inspection and repair.

Risk

The mower blades can fail to disengage when the foot pedal is released, keeping the sharp blades spinning unexpectedly and posing a serious risk of laceration or injury to the operator or bystanders. No incidents or injuries have been reported to date.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your mower to see if it is a red and black Snapper Rear Engine Riding Mower with a 33-inch mower deck.
  2. Locate the white identification label on the back of the mower and verify if it contains model number 2691526 and the text '33"'.
  3. Immediately stop using the mower if it matches the recalled model number.
  4. Contact Briggs & Stratton at 800-227-3798 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday to schedule a free inspection and repair.
