Forest River, Inc.: 2023 Pause Travel Trailers Recalled for Brake Failure Risk

Summary

Forest River, Inc. is recalling 19 of its 2023 Pause travel trailers because the brake wires were installed incorrectly. The brake wire was routed through the suspension in a way that can cause the wire to become pinched during normal use. If the wire is pinched or damaged, the trailer's braking system may fail completely, which increases the risk of a vehicle crash. Owners can have their trailers inspected and repaired by a dealer free of charge.

Risk

A pinched brake wire can sever the electrical connection to the trailer's brakes, causing them to fail unexpectedly. This loss of braking power can lead to a crash, especially when towing the trailer at highway speeds or in heavy traffic.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own a 2023 Forest River Pause travel trailer affected by this recall.
  2. Contact a Forest River dealer to schedule a free inspection of your trailer's brake wire routing.
  3. If the inspection reveals an incorrectly routed wire, the dealer will rewire or reroute the system as necessary at no cost to you.
