Summary

Navistar, Inc. is recalling 6,786 vehicles across several models, including 2016 International DuraStar, 2018-2020 and 2023-2024 International 1300FBC Stripped chassis, 2019-2022 IC Bus CE, and 2019-2024 IC Bus TC and International MV vehicles. The brake pressure switch assembly can leak fluid into electrical components, causing a short-circuit. Navistar dealers will replace the brake pressure switch and, if necessary, the wire harness or fuse for free.

Risk

An electrical short in the brake pressure switch can cause the circuit to overheat, creating a high risk of fire even when the vehicle is parked. Because of this fire risk, owners are advised to park their vehicles outdoors and away from buildings or other structures until the repair is finished.

What You Should Do

  1. Park this vehicle outdoors, away from structures — do NOT park in a garage due to fire risk.
  2. Check if your vehicle is one of the affected models: 2016 International DuraStar, 2018-2020 or 2023-2024 International 1300FBC, 2019-2022 IC Bus CE, 2019-2024 IC Bus TC, or 2019-2024 International MV.
  3. Contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 to schedule a free repair; reference recall number 23517.
  4. Bring your vehicle to an authorized dealer to have the brake pressure switch replaced and have the wire harness or fuse inspected and replaced if necessary.
  5. For additional information, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
