Summary

Navistar, Inc. is recalling 9,170 International CV trucks from model years 2017 through 2023 because the brake pressure switch assembly can leak brake fluid into electrical components. This leakage can cause an electrical short-circuit, which may lead to the circuit overheating and starting a fire. Owners are advised to park their vehicles outdoors and away from buildings until the necessary repairs are completed by a dealer.

Risk

A short-circuit in the brake pressure switch can cause the electrical system to overheat, creating a high risk of fire whether the vehicle is being driven or is parked. Because of the fire risk, these vehicles should be parked away from structures to prevent property damage or injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Park this vehicle outdoors, away from structures — do NOT park in a garage due to fire risk.
  2. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if it is a 2017-2023 International CV truck affected by this recall (Navistar recall number 23511).
  3. Contact an authorized Navistar dealer to schedule a free repair. Dealers will replace the brake pressure switch assembly and, if necessary, the wire harness or fuse.
  4. For more information or to find a dealer, contact Navistar's customer service at 1-800-448-7825.
  5. Call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for further questions.
